As an organ in its own right, our skin has an intimate connection with our internal organs. Our skin is more than a mere representation of our external beauty: it reflects our inner beauty, and our health.

By observing our facial skin around our mouths, we can see subtle changes in structure where it turns into mucosa, or "inner skin". Mucosa is lacking in keratin, which protects our external skin from chemical and physical trauma. Furthermore, our mucosa can absorb a great deal, and is intimately connected to our intestine. Consequently, the health of our intestine can be manifest externally.

During the early years of our lives, neural connections between our brains and skin are established: When a baby is touched and cuddled, important memories are formed: Due to this, skin pathologies such sas Eczema, are often triggered by emotional trauma.

Many of our lines and wrinkles are connected to our facial mimic, which is in turn connected to our emotions. Other wrinkles are, of course, linked to the natural ageing process, and are more defined due to a combination of factors, including poor diet, sun exposure, pollution, and insufficient sleep. To slow this process down, follow an organic lifestyle, with a diet rich in anti-oxidants and vitamins, and get plenty of rest and excercise. You should also drink plenty of water, with a few drops of lemon juice, and moisturise regularly.

Minerals which support our collagen metabolism include Silica and Sulfur, and these can help prevent wrinkles. Foods to consider, which are high in these minerals, are garlic, cabbage, watercress, and cauliflower. Peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, and beetroot are also ver beneficial as they are rich in antioxidants and vitamins. Cold pressed oils and small amounts of nuts are also very good for you as they are rich in essential fatty acids and Vitamin E.

Ideally, you should also include an organic skincare regime in your daily life: Moisturising your skin with oils rich in Vitmain E, essential fatty acids, enzymes and chlorophyll will soften your skin, and minimise evaporation. These oils also include natural protection against UV rays.

To minimise wrinkles, you should of course not smoke, and only drink small amounts of alcohol, sunbathe moderately, and greet life with enthusiasm! This way, your wrinkles and lines will be down to too much laughter!
